The UpValley Village is a membership funded organization whose mission is to provide easy access to support services and activities for older adults so they can live safely in their homes and community. UpValley Village covers Yountville to Angwin.
In 2012, George Vare, a beloved member of the Napa community, did a thorough analysis of the then-emerging Village movement. He recognized the profound need of older adults to remain in their homes as they age; to feel safe, secure and confident that their lives will continue as before or better. He envisioned the Village movement as filling a need for Napa Valley residents.
The next few years brought about more local research and community leaders who were interested in making this program a reality. A decision was made to begin in the up valley communities of Napa County, where access to services was somewhat more limited than in the city of Napa.
In 2016, Collabria Care, a provider of continuum of care services for more than 4 decades, decided to sponsor the UpValley Village as part of their “transitions in aging” mission. Along with leaders in the towns of Yountville, St. Helena, Calistoga and Angwin, they hired a Program Manager for the UpValley Village in March 2017.
